According to the website "TSA Pre✓™ allows select frequent flyers of participating airlines and members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler programs who are flying on participating airlines*, to receive expedited screening benefits. Eligible participants use dedicated screening lanes for screening benefits which include leaving on shoes, light outerwear and belts, as well as leaving laptops and 3-1-1 compliant liquids in carry-on bags."

When?
If you are approved as a TSA Pre✓™, NEXUS, SENTRI, or Global Entry member, you can take advantage of expedited passage through security for both domestic and international flights when traveling through a participating U.S. airport, on a participating airline*. Children 12 and under can go with their parent or guardian through the expedited lanes when available. Expedited screening is not guaranteed. Read below for more details.

How?
To be approved for TSA Pre✓™, you must either opt in as a frequent flier with one of the participating airlines and asked to participate in the program or be a member of a Trusted Traveler program with the CBP. Individual application into the program is coming fall 2013.

To become a Trusted Traveler, first register for a Global Online Enrollment System (GOES) account. Select your desired Trusted Traveler program for enrollment and submit the necessary information including the payment of fees. If approved, activate your card online.

You will need to enter your supplied PASS ID number into the "Known Traveler Number" field when booking your airline ticket with a participating airline. Look at your boarding pass upon check-in to see the TSA Pre✓™ logo for confirmation. When you go to the member airports, go through security at the corresponding TSA Pre✓™ lane.

*Currently, the participating airlines are Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.
